IITA is an International non-profit research-for-development (R4D) organization created in 1967, governed by a Board of Trustees, and supported primarily by the Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). We develop agricultural, solutions with our partners to tackle hunger and poverty by reducing producer and consumer risks, enhancing crop quality and productivity, and generating wealth from agriculture. The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian Nationals for the below position at the Institute’s Headquarters, Ibadan.





Position: Secretary II


(2-year renewable Contract)



Duties



Successful candidate will among other things:

Maintain project filling system, both paper and electronic versions from proposal to closing state
Responsible for correspondence, mail, photocopying, binding and other paperwork
Scanning and forwarding new donor and partner agreements, MoUsand amendments
Responsible for sending of cheques to partners who are paid by cheque
Preparing of Travel Authorisation and Cash Advance/Expense Claims for travel arrangement for CGO staff
Preparing Oracle requests for internal purchases and Purchases Order for office stationery and supplies
Such other duties, properly assigned, as may be occasioned by the exigencies of the service.


Qualification and Experience

B.Sc/ H N D or equivalent in a related discipline.
Minimum of five years secretarial experience in a reputable organization.
The ideal candidate will be neat, committed, well organized and be a good team player.
He/She must be highly proficient int he use of computer and possess good tying skills and knowledge of filling systems.

Job Responsibilities

    Analyzes Macroeconomic developments in Nigeria and globally
    Advises Management on system risk management
    Reviews reports on all aspects of policy and Regulation of financial institutions prepared by teams in the group.
    Manages Credit Risk Management System (CRMS) returns rendition and compliance
    Conducts periodic Bank ratings
    Undertakes financial institutions stress testing
    Prepares periodic management reports, e.g. Industry updates and developments
    Develops baseline ratings of financial institutions
    Maintains the e-FASS data base
    Carries out other duties as assigned.

    Conduct in-depth studies on monetary and financial sector policies, including macroeconomic impact analysis.
    Conceptualize and implement the Bank’s monetary and financial policies.
    Participate in production processes of the secretariat of Monetary Policy Committee (MPC).
    Participate in the preparation of the MPC Economic Report.    
    Participate in Review Teams that will promptly identify weakness/problems in current practices and propose appropriate corrective policies.
    Display expertise in Forecasting and Scenario Analysis.
    Achieve effective coordination between Monetary and Fiscal Policy.
    Monitor the Implementation of Monetary Policy actions.
    Produce research papers to be published in peer-reviewed journals.
    Present research findings in CBN as well as external seminars.
    Attend to ad-hoc assignments from the Director, MPD/Research/statistics, on monetary policy and related issues.
    Interface with Multilateral and Bilateral Organizations, such as the IMF, World Bank, WAMI, ECOWAS etc.


QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    A Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Economics, Statistics or Finance and a proven ability to perform the tasks required by the position.
    Six years cognate experience in economic and policy research, of which 3 years should be at middle management level (for the Senior Economist Positions).
    Nine years cognate experience in economic and policy research, of which 5 years should be at middle/senior management level (for the Principal Economist Positions).
    Records of outstanding publication in Economics, Statistics, Finance and related disciplines with a minimum of eight research papers, out of which at least 4 must have been published in reputable journals (for Principal Economists) and 6 papers out of which at least 3 must have been published in reputable journal (for Senior Economists).
    Membership of the Nigerian Economic Society and/or other similar professional bodies.
